vacation
I have taken the week off to spend in the Shop
with my Ferrari Motor
(instead of a week in Hawaii with a BABE?- Forget it!
although I would have spent LESS)
I will be updating the pics on Yahoo as I go
so feel free to take a peek, now and again

Hello Fest
Looks like you're doing a pretty thorough job!
This is probably not necessary to tell you but make sure you overhaul the oil/water pump, replace the oil seals, bearings & bushes.
It is simple with the engine out but can't be done with the engine in the car.
Regards & my apology if you were doing it anyway.
Ian L
PS watch out for the Woodruff keys on the oil pump drive gear

last one
pete:
yes the wear pads are in the works
they were pretty well shot!
I originally thought that was
the source of all the noise
coming from the Timing Case.
I have located all of the replacement Pads
Includong one that not only was NLA
but only showed (1) in stock in the World
(see eariler thread on that one)

on time
as for Timing the Cams:
I took the precaution of
bringing the Engine to PM 1/6
and locking the Cams down
(with the tried and true
paper-actually Oaktag-
under the # 4 Bearing Caps method)
after making sure they were aligned
with their respective Timing Marks
that way, I can leave the timing set
until the Chain is fully installed
when that is complete
then I will check Valve Clearances
and verify exact Valve Timing .
w/gogionometer, etc

I have added a few pics
(not necessarily at the end)
as I remembered to bring the Camera!
if any of you all would care to take a peek
http://photos.yahoo.com/fest055
apparently the answer to the 'One Piece Chain' dilemna
is exactly what my 'gut' instinct told me to do:
Break the Chain and put in a Master Link!
(this comes from the Ferrari UK 'Guru')
