Coming out of the woodwork

Post by 330GT »

330 GTs are coming out from wherever they have been hiding.

7 are up for auction in Monterey in August.
3 are up for auction in the UK in September.

It will be interesting to see what they bring. The estimates range from a low of $200k to a high of 600K. The high is for a Drogo re-bodied car (7979)

8947 (http://www.330gt.com/Detail/8947.html) was last heard from in 1990 when it was sold at Barrett-Jackson auction. I don't know where its been in the last 24 years.

Most seem to have been bought in the last couple of years. So relatively new owners trying to make some quick gains.

Two more 330 GTs plus a 330 America have been added to the UK auctions in September. So a total of 7 in Monterey next week and 6 in the UK.

Well, I'm quite surprised that the market absorbed all but one of the 330 GTs that were up for auction. I guess that they are the cheapest way into the classic Ferrari V12 market:

Americas
5109 $360,918
5113 $505,000

4HL/4 sp
5797 $248,244
6089 $319,000
6113 $242,000
6201 $239,140

2HL
7613 $439,427
7849 $345,247
8379 $374,000
8409 $253,707
8421 $253,508
8725 Not sold at $270,000.
8947 $302,500
9089 $341,000
9209 $231,000
9929 $324,927

All prices w/buyer's premium and converted to US$ as needed.

Hi Kerry,

I was at Goodwood this weekend and looked over 5797 & 6201.

6201 is really in need of total restoration as it was a tatty but a complete car (interior was very poor), 5797 ditto also but only marginally better and not run in years. The prices reflect this.
Interestingly there was a stand opposite the auction tent by a company called Spellbound Cars of Farnham. They had an almost finished restored series 1 4HL with new paint and interior trim (but no engine or mechanical work carried out) for £260K GBP or $422K USD !!!

I paid $30K for my 330 America 15 years ago, and was called an "idiot," now I'm a "genius!"

I consider myself lucky, and I'm keeping my car!
