250 GTE Instrument Panel Color

Next year I plan to strip 3177 to bare metal and give the car a high quality paint job. The car is currently black. The instrument panel/glovebox sheet metal is satin black, which looks very good but I doubt is original. The car came from the factory with a medium green metallic exterior and light tan interior. Because the interior has been redone, in part, in black, my intention is to keep the black leather/red carpets combination.

My question is: did the interior sheet metal always match the exterior, or were there common colors applied to the interior with a selection of exterior colors?

No I am not going to paint the car red. I am thinking dark blue but have no objection to retaining the black exterior, which I believe looks good on these cars.

The instrument panel would have originally been body color.
