smelly clutch question.

Postby michaelbalk330 » Fri May 22, 2015 3:03 pm

My car, #9693 had about 500 miles put on it by the prior owner from 2002 to 2015 when I purchased it. I have done some deferred maintenance and driven 500 miles without a problem, but the clutch, when engaging, makes an incredibly bad smell.
In atlanta, there is a fair amount of stop and go traffic and some hills, and anytime I have to start on a hill from a stop, it smells according to my daughter, like "broccoli and farts". just for a few seconds or so. I dont smell it when normally shifting.
My questions is, having owned many many euro and american cars with clutches and never smelled anything like this, is this a "sign" of anything?
It works fine. Thanks in advance for your input.
