SCAGLIETTI BUCK OF MASSIVE WOOD

Post by 250GT »

I am not a fan of FC.
But read a question about wood jigs of F-cars who were produced on the org wooden bucks
I did found those already in the early 90th near Turin .
But was visiting this company 2 years ago again, and made some pics, these were ALL bought at Scaglietti.
and are a kind of art on ther own , was not able to buy those or only one.
Will send some of those pics here but have to do it in several posts .
3 is the maximum at one time.
hope you enjoy.
One jig needs 5 persons to move it from one place to an other.......

That is amazing to find - - so are these the only ones out there - - there was a company in Cueno that makes the bodies - do they own these bucks?

Ed,
this company did work in time that there was a Viper challange in EU leigh weight body´s in Villastelone 5 km south of Turino not Cuneo.

Last year they biuld the anti clockwise doors of the new Lamboghini´s and new Ferrari´s

The wooden bucks are hardly used anymore, most body shops have there own copy from a copy bucks.

thats probebly the reason why some restored car look a bit strange , but as long they have the red book every thing should be fine......

Here an example or the real thing made on the bucks above 0557gt . 1956

I have a couple of questions.

Simple:(?) When did they stop using the bucks? Or the date at which they remained for very limited production cars.

Naive: Were there two types of bucks? I had always thought that body bucks were use to check the fitting of the panels that were formed
elsewhere, pounding on leather bags of sand or what ever. This type of buck can have spaces between boards and does not have
to be very strong. Were there other bucks where aluminum sheets were directly formed to shape by placing the sheet on the
buck and hammering away?
