Ferrari, Pininfarina & Chevy Bel Airs

Post by Tom Wilson »

You may recall that a long time ago we were searching for the metal that was used in the GTEs door kickplate and found it on the tailfins of a 1957 Chevy Bel Air. I have also seen it on the inside of the doors of early Corvettes. This week I was talking to my upholsterer and found that the trunk carpet is the same as used in the 1955-57 Bel Air convertible. And the GTE headliner? Bel Air seat material... Now I know that Pininfarina designed the Corvair, so they had access to Chevrolet materials and must have liked some of them. Do you guys know of other materials these two companies used in common? It will certainly be cheaper and easier to purchase from the Chevy guys than the Ferrari guys.
