Booster Vacuum hose

Post by John Vardanian »

Isn't the black hose running from the rear intake manifold to the brake booster supposed to be ribbed? Has anyone sourced a replacement since Mike Dunn passed? Thanks.

Not sure about any other models but Kerrys site shows hosing that has a weaved fabric wrapped around it on the 330. I got mine from Geoff at Partsource a few years ago.
As an unrelated side note, sorry, I just went to Neils site at Newco, he has a "Macaroni" hose listed as a new product. Looks like a pretty good reproduction. Finding that replacement hose seems to have been a tough one for a few years.

Greetings… Little brother had a ribbed rubber hose originally. I got a replacement from Mike Dunn when he was still around. Not sure what the status of Mikes business is now. I think I heard Brian Hoyt had taken over from his wife but not sure.

Hi Tim,

Yes, Jeannine bought Mike Dunn's business several years ago, but it seems it is now defunct. I don't know what happened to all his resources, molds, and life's work has gone. Sad.

Sounds like you really need to step in and take that over Tom. Come on, get a couple of retirees up there working for you, it'll be great!

Are you offering to run it for me when you retire? I have a nice little corner of the shop you can use. How are your people skills?

John: Do you have a picture of the "proper" hose you can post? Both of my cars have had a cloth covered rubber hose without any ribs.

What makes anyone think people skills are required? I can think of one Ferrari parts supplier who is like talking to a wooden fence post...(you guys know who I'm referring to) but he never screws up my order and gets me the parts incredibly fast and gets me off the phone and on my way faster than anyone I've ever dealt with.

Back on topic: My hose is cloth covered and needs replacing, I'll be calling the wooden fence post first!

Since Tims last posting I have been thinking what was on 5749. After the request for a pic I began digging thru old parts bins.....here you go. This was off of 5749, series 1 330. So I guess I'll be looking for this hose also....never ends!

Cory, thanks for posting this picture. This is the hose in question. Your car's serial number is close to mine, so I'd think mine came with this hose.

Greetings… John, what car are you working on. Is that the Lusso. I refer to Cory's car as "big brother" as his is 5749 and mine is 5769.

Tim, yes, working on my Lusso. The chassis is 5695, close to your and Cory's cars.
