Does anyone know what the maximum oil pressure a 330 engine might produce when cold? my dashboard gauge registers to 10 Bar but I'm wondering what reality is. I ask because I'm making up new oil cooler lines for a GTC and would like to test them before installation. I'm thinking to test at 1.5 or 2.0 maximum cold pressure. These are the original steel braided type with screw-on brass ferrules and elbows, there is no crimping involved.

Maximum oil pressure?
Re: Maximum oil pressure?
Tom: It is easy for a 330 motor to "spike" 150 psi oil pressure on start-up, if revved high. Generally, the engines can produce 85-100 psi at the relief valve cold.
Re: Maximum oil pressure?
Tom: While I am on the subject of trivia, remember the oil pressure gauge feed is off of a "medium" pressure line (after the pump has oiled the main and rod bearings). Ferrari oil pumps drive at over 100 psi.
Re: Maximum oil pressure?
Thanks for the reply Dyke. OK I'm thinking I will test at 200 psi, that should be safe without overkill.
