Further to Toms 250 engine dismantle.
Photo of an original oil slinger. These were shrunk on to the rear of the cranks

I had to grapple with this one when rebuilding the motor, to keep the slinger or not to keep the slinger. My romantic side won.

Adds a whole 213 gr. weight to flywheel.
That's close enough to 1/2 lb

It seems to be too close to the center line to make much of a difference in regards to inertia. When they machine the crank, do they just machine off the slinger grooves or remove the whole part and machine the crank a little for a seal surface?

We remove the entire slinger and machine the crank to fit a common seal.
