250 GT parts - needed

Post by enio45 »

posted over f-chat as well

Putting together for a client a survivor 250GT - 1962 (car #2421)

Looking for good used:

- a good used driver door panel complete - med red if possible
- headers collector (has 3 holes) to center section pipe R&L
- exhaust system last section with tips.

(I have the center sections (or will have from a friend) - need the back sections used ) .

- Rear view mirror (believe it has a light in it?)
- Correct vintage radio for the console (not sure what type goes in there)

Thanks for the ad space and let me know what you have pls.

Greg, not sure what that is from, i believe the GTE's had the black back, i think mine would have had a light in it with a day night lever......looking for some expertise out here on this?

Tom Wilson - any thoughts>

Greg's mirror looks like one from a GTE. It has the slot for the light, the electrical connection for it, and one for the day/night lever.

I agree with Tom Y. Black back and light on the bottom is correct.

Tom W - thanks a lot - does the mirror have a lens where the light goes?

I will have to go back and look, but I am pretty sure there is a white plastic cover, similar material to the dome light.

Enio,

here is a pic of the mirror disassembled. I don't have the lever or electrical connections. I needed some parts years ago and had to buy ALL of the stuff or none of it from a Ferrari restoration shop that was no longer in business and ended up with some unique original parts that I have ended up using along with parts that I have sold on ebay to recoup some of the initial outlay. This mirror was part of this batch.

Here an overview of all parts that come with a complete GTE interior mirror.
Btw the serie 2 PF coupe used the same mirror.
KC schows on his side how to overhaul or repair I think .

The second mirror is probably for an Alfa Spider. Note the shape of the ends. The GTE mirror ends are parallel with each other, the other one has ends that converge toward the top.
I need one for #2811. I looked at and photographed all the inside mirrors at the GTE gathering at Concorso two years ago, they seemed evenly split between the two types. According to my research, the first type should be correct for all GTE as well as early 330 2+2.

The Alfa mirrors (probably Vitaloni) are widely available. The GTE mirrors (B.O.M.) seem to be pretty scarce.

The mirror I show above came out 1889gt a car I parted out for over 25 year.

Now a days people can not imagine how diff it was to keep you other F-cars running in those days.

ask Dyke or others.

Its a real industie now, in those years nothing was available

to help you with you search the mirror says on the elector connector V.I.F

and has nothing to do with B.O.M

B.O.M did produce mirrors but for the inside of the sun visors. and ashtrays etc.

the mirror you need .

is shown below.
