Daytona Gear Oil

Post by DrewA »

Just changed the gear oil in my Daytona after 3 years. Had Redline NS 75/90 with 4oz GM limited slip additive. The car shifted well but the differential clutch packs chattered quite a bit. On some research I saw Dyke had used Mobil 1 LS with the a limited slip additive. This is what I tried this time around and it is much better. Shifting is good and no more chatter. Just reporting. Drew: Thanks for the report. Over the summer, I have also used the Mobil 1/ LS Additive combo in a Boxer, 275 GTB and 275 GTS with similar results. Every car now has varying degrees of improved shifting ,and no chatter. By the way, Ferrari did not start using clutch type limited-slips in the street cars until about chassis #7500. Before that they used the Cam and Pawl style units that do not require any additive.
