What/who is Bertolli ?

Post by NOTRED »

I noticed on the Barchetta site that info on my GTE 2831 is limited to Bertolli, I.
Would this be the first owner or the name of an Italian Ferrari dealer? I = Italia?
If it was delivered to an Italian owner why do I have miles per hour speedo?

This information was copied from the Ferrari Files by Hil Raab a long time ago. I believe that the names he found were where the cars were intended to go, but they did not always get there. I have in the Register three cars destined for Bertolli and information that one did indeed first sell in Rome, but that is all I know. Bertolli remains a mystery...

Thanks. I was also told when we got the car in the early 80s that it came thru Ron Tonkin (it had Ron Tonkin licence plate frame as well) but when contacted they said that 2831 had not been in their "books".

I had a chance to talk to Marcel Massini and he said that 2831 GT was originally sold through Chinetti Motors in New York. Interestingly enough, of the three cars that were said to go to Bertolli, none did and he had no records of anyone named Bertolli getting a car. Lots of mysteries in this game...
