Ferrari 250 GTE Overdrive ang Gearbox oil

Postby chris » Sun Jun 17, 2018 4:01 am

Hi Tom,

just read your article on the 250 Gte overdrive/gearbox. What oil do you use in the separate overdrive type and gearbox? Ferrari recommended the same as the gearbox in the old manuals.

For those who dont know what type of gearbox they have (I do know) is there anyway of finding out from the outside?

Thanks a lot
Christopher

Hi Chris,

The Laycock/DeNormanville overdrive work best with 30 weight non-detergent motor oil. I can sometimes find it at the autoparts store, but as with everything, I'm sure you can get it on the Internet.

I know with my overdrive with a split oil case, there are two fill plugs for the transmission, with the overdrive section having its own.
