Luggage straps on 2+2 - original option?

Post by Pmo75 »

Hi all,
My 1966 2+2 has luggage strap brackets under the rear seats and on the parcel shelf.
The PO who had the car since 1985 told me they were original. They seem identical to the GTC brackets.
However, I don’t think I’ve seen such brackets on other 2+2s.
Does anyone have seen these already a 2+2 ?

Best - and happy new year...

Luggage straps were an option that could be ordered on a new car. 7497 and 7581 are the two cars that are known to have been built with luggage straps. 6391 and 8211 had the rear seats replaced with a baggage shelf, so presumably would also had straps. 7187 and 8765 have a note about a special rear seat, but no details if it was a baggage shelf or not?

I don't recognize your car with blue paint, black leather and blue carpet. If you haven't registered your ownership In the 330gt registry, please go to http://www.330gt.com/RegistryForm.htm and fill the form out.

It’s 8941, I sent you updated pictures and status a few weeks ago. Will fill the form for some of the missing details.

The luggage shelf option I have seen on 2 other GTEs - this is mine. Folds away and stores in trunk. Sits easily on the centre and side armrests.

Thanks NOTRED.
The shelf on my car was probably lost a long time ago, will look into having a new one made. Not a priority but it distinguishes the car nicely.

Noticing that on. your GTE the ashtray is much more accessible to the rear passengers.
Perfect for the kids...

Speaking of kids - I remember when I turned up at our FCA Fall Rally with my 1 year old in a child seat that I installed. Members were joking that I should write a Tech Tip for the Northern Prancer. Some were horrified that I would drill a hole through the rear window shelf. Easy to install actually as you get access through the fuel panel in the trunk. Alas he is now 6ft and all that remains of the feature is a leather covered button.
