Kerry's restoration website

Post by 330GT »

As some might have noticed, my restoration website has been either down, or not working properly for the last couple of months.

To make a long story short, the hardware dating from 2002 went belly up, probably with a bad mother board. A few years ago, my friend, Art, who owns and runs parrotbyte.com was working on upgrading to new hardware and a server version from 2012 (the old one was 2003). Since the old server was running fine, there was no emergency and it never got done. Fast forward to a couple of months ago, everything went south. Art upgraded the hardware he had been working on and I supplied a server version from 2016. A number of pitfalls afterwards, everything seems to be up and running.
BTW, some of you probably met Art at TY early parties in Monterey.

Over the last week or so, I decided to re-organize the restoration sites to make them consistent and clean up a bunch of junk accumulated over the years. With that in mind, the home page is still at www.parrotbyte.com/kbc/ferrari. However the 330 GT portion is now at www.parrotbyte.com/kbc/ferrari/330gt. So if you have bookmarks directly into certain parts of the old 330 GT folder, you will need to update them as I will be deleting the old files in a couple of days.

FYI, the name parrotbyte comes from Art's raising and keeping birds for many years. Meet Blaze, his current bird.

The byte portion come from Art's (and my) occupation of programming since the 60s.

Please let me know if you see any problems or missing pages or pictures. Use the Contact link (which is once again working) to notify me. It is best is you copy and paste the URL in question into the message as that makes it much quicker for me to figure out what is wrong.

A last note, my restoration site hasn't been too active the last couple of years. The 330 has been on the lift waiting new front wheel bearings and I've been driving the 308, which seems to always work. However, recently I contracted with Dennison Internationalwww.dennisoninternational.com to do a complete restoration on my PF Coupe that I quit work on several years ago. So as Butch and crew make progress on the coupe, I will be posting their efforts with pictures. The first post was from October where they picked the car with (I hope) all of the parts necessary to put it together. See http://www.parrotbyte.com/kbc/ferrari/P ... vingUp.htm

Hi Kerry,

Thanks for keeping your server running and keeping the data alive on the web. Please extend my thank you to Art and a "hello" to him as well. It's been a few years since we've seen either one of you at Monterey, and maybe when the guys at Dennison finish the Coupe, you'll make the trip down!

Kerry -- I've said it many times, but it can't be said often enough: thank you very much for your awesome website. It's a huge asset to owners and to preservation of the cars and Ferrari history.

Thanks for the nice comments guys.

I just posted that start of the PF Coupe restoration. I have a What's New RSS feed that you can subscribe to. That feed will let you know when I post new items. It's http://www.parrotbyte.com/kbc/ferrari/whats_new.xml. You can also just look at that URL. It's in chronological order with the new items listed at the top.

My favorite quote of the week:

"So a lot of work got done in the first month. Enough that the November bill was just about what I paid for the new Honda CR-V"
