162000 km

Post by michaelbalk330 »

Jamie and I took the 330 to her mothers house for dinner tonight… Beautiful weekend in Atlanta… I turned 162,000 km on the way. The only thing not working… The darn o’clock ....One of these days I just need to pull that thing out and get it repaired. I’ve now put about 6000 km in four years on this baby… With no major problems… Without a doubt Driving her is still one of the smoothest, most mechanical,And visceral sensations you can have

Hi Michael,

That's great. I'm glad you're enjoying the car!

You'll have to decide whether to repair the mechanical part, or have the guts replaced with a quartz movement. The reason these clocks stop working most often is because the contact points inside get dirty and stop passing current. You can try cleaning the points and the clock will work, but the hardest thing will be carefully bending the tabs back on the bezel to take the clock apart. If they break, you'll have another problem.

Enjoy the car, and know the time will be right twice a day!

Mike Eck at https://www.jaguarclock.com/ can make the clock work reliably for years. He puts a small circuit board reduces the current switched by the carbon tipped arm. So, with very little current, no arcing occurs and the clock keeps working for a long time.
See http://www.parrotbyte.com/kbc/ferrari/3 ... m#20140809 for details. Mine has been working for 5 years now.

Veglia clock repair

Post by 330GT »

Well, I can no longer recommend Mike Eck to repair a clock. In December 2019, I sent two 330GT Veglia clocks to him, mine for a new board as a bad voltage regulator broke it and one for another 330 GT owner. The one being sent back to me got lost by the post office. Mike only insured it for $250 and he will only pay that the amount once the Post Office has paid the claim to him. He has waited 6 months hoping the PO would find it, and last I knew has yet to file a claim as he thinks the the PO will stop looking for the parcel once he does file. I'm not holding my breath on ever getting even the $250.

I just with that someone else would create a similar upgrade. Mine get good time for several years until the VR went bonkers.
