GTE Manual English Version
GTE Manual English Version
Hi, just a quick heads up.
I am working on a full color reprint of the English language 250 series manual.
Tom has kindly sent me his English copy as a basis for the re-production.
The same quality standards and techniques will be used for this book that I employed on the Italian Language version (see thread below).
As most of the interest in that book came from the 'anglosphere' I decided it would be useful to produce a book that owners could keep in the car that would satisfy concours judges, and that people could actually use for the purposes intended by Ferrari.
Pricing should be about the same, though images taken from Toms 'well used' original will take a fair bit of work to look 'as new'.
I will keep you posted on developments...

Re: GTE Manual English Version
The English manuals are progressing nicely.
It is amazing what a quality printer can do based on a much used original example.
I have signed off on the proofs , so watch this space.
My wife and I are decamping to Mexico for two weeks before heading to Monterey, this is necessitated by a Presidential decree which currently prohibits travel from the UK.
When we do get to California I will bring copies of both Italian and English manuals for those who like to touch before they buy !
On the subject of the English version, Art Taxman informed me of an error in translation that features in the original manual and of course will also be in mine.
Referring to page 38 , Engine servicing, Art tells me that :
Please note the advice to “tighten lock-nut (1) to 62/66 lbs/ft.”.
The 62 to 66 lbs/ft. should apply to the cylinder head stud nuts. It is inappropriate for the bolt and nut shown by the arrow and numeral “1”.
That much tightening will only serve to deform and probably crack the chain tensioner casting and restrict the movement of the tensioner pinion. To fix that situation the casting would possibly need to be welded and then honed or bored back to the correct dimension.
As I think more people will use the English version for actual servicing I thought I should bring this to people's attention. Art said he discovered the error in the text "the hard way".
Ouch !

The manual in french has the same error. The tensioner clamping bolt torque is given as a slightly higher 9-9.5 kg m (65.1 - 69.7 lbs ft).
And yes, mine was also cracked.
Some years ago I saw that Piet Roelofs listed a remanufactured clamping boss.

Re: GTE Manual English Version
The English language manuals have arrived from the printer !
I am really pleased with the quality.
So, they are ready to ship.
All the features of the original are carried over in full color, on the correct quality paper, with cloth binding and a fold out wiring diagram.
So now we have a choice of full colour English or Italian versions of the GTE manual.
Costs were slightly higher and I will sell them to subscribers of the GTE newsletter and readers of this website for £220 plus shipping.
As before high quality leather pouches are available from me or direct from Tom Shaughnessy
If you are interested in putting one in the glove box or garage, please contact me on tea_and_gray@mac.com

I received my copy of the English Manual yesterday and it is terrific! Excellent color and photographic reproduction. I highly recommend getting one.

People clearly agree, I have now sold 51/100 English language copies.
Thanks to all for your support.

Re: GTE Manual English Version
I guess this is a 'bump' and update on the manual project.
I have sold 107 manuals (of the 200 printed) so far and the reaction from the buyers has been extremely positive.
The manuals have gone to 250 series owners all over the world, with the exception, for some reason, of Italy
I have both English and Italian versions still available.
