330 engine front cover stud

Post by Jumprun »

I am assembling the final bits and pieces for my GTC A/C installation. I need to replace the stud on the right side of the front cover with a longer one in order to attach the compressor bracket.

I can't find the P/N or length in the parts book. Can anyone tell me the thread size that goes into the crankcase? The nut end is 8mm x 1. Or if anyone knows a source for this unusual stud I would be grateful.

Of course I will know as soon as I remove it, but I want to minimize downtime by having it on hand.

Thanks, Tom in Socal.

Thanks for the response Kevin.
Unfortunately my car is a later model GTC that the parts manual does not always cover accurately. Sometimes I need to refer to the 365 2+2 or Daytona book.
GTO has recently improved their website with parts diagrams and some pricing, so thanks for reminding me of that source.

In general, Ferrari used studs with a coarser thread for the block end and then a finer thread for the nut end. This gives better threads for the end screwed into the aluminum block.
