And by the time you restore the rest of the car, you will end up with a $ 200,000 2+2! So we do it for love; not for money. Bernard

Yeah, yeah, yeah, spend more then the car is worth, part and parcel of the four seat deal. My point above is, anyone else heard of $82,000 for and engine and transmission rebuild?! The ebay ad goes onto say that it is not a concours car, my thoughts are someone got that $82,000 bill and said "ok, that's it, get me out of this car." Who would spend that much to turn around and sell the car? Yale

Gents, I could not find this car on ebay. Would like to see where this trades, or not, as the $82m engine/tranny bill is significantly more than the asking price of any of the cars I see for sale

rosso redo

Post by fest »

the first thing that comes to my mind
when viewing a car like this is:
"What color was it originally?"

Looks like the current color
is the omnipresent
(especially in the Ferrari Realm)
RESALE RED

as you may know
there are really only 3 colors
for a used car:

RESALE RED
WHOLESALE BLUE
&
NO-SALE GREEN

as for $82 large for Engine and Tranny:
this may be pushing the limits of credulity
on the other hand,
replacing 'only' the Timing Chain on my car
is pushing the $5G limit
(when all is said and done)

Was the $82K seen in print, or spoken word? That is, is this a typo for $28K?

Bob Smith Coachworks = Big $$$. They do the Pebble Beach stuff.
I corresponded with a guy who they quoted $200K to restore a 330 America.

Seen in print. No typo.

The bill has nothing to do with why this car is now being offered for sale. Sorry, but I can't elaborate on this right now.
