Hi,
I have three different types of screws in the door hinges of my series III GTE (1962) - surely these have been messed up during the past 60 years, but which type is genuine?:
1) slotted flat head
2) slotted domed head
3) Phillips domed head
And then, how should the finish be? Mine have been covered with paint, but I am sure this was from a later paint job. Were these screws
a) chromed and visible with chromed surface
b) cadmium plated and visible with cadmium surface
c) painted over with car color at the factory already
Does anybody have an untouched car for comparison or have the knowledge to advise please?
Best regards,
Martin

These are great questions and I will have to look further. I seem to recall them being painted body color but I'll have to see if I have pictures of an original car.

Thank you Tom, your help is very much appreciated! I do only recall painted screws, however, most likely any car I have ever seen was re-sprayed throughout these many years. The best hint would be an unrestored car with original paint. Finding such an untouched survivor is a little like the search for the holy grail, but hopefully you have some helpful pictures in your files.
