Factory Ferrari visit tips needed

Post by michaelbalk330 »

We will be in Paris for my MIL's 90th Birthday, and we are headed to Florence afterwards, so I have arranged a visit to the Factory for a tour.
My question is to those who have done this before:
  • anything special in Maranello to do while there?
Is it possible to see build documents of my '67 330GT, and If so, how do I arrange that?
Thanks in advance..
Michael

Sorry Michael, but the factory does not have a build sheet for 9693.
A long time ago, one could get the build sheet for free if you provided pictures of the serial number stampings on the chassis, engine, transmission and differential. One could use the webpage for that request to see if a build sheet was available for a certain SN. I checked on all of the 330 GTs (took a long time) and put that information into the registry database.
They stopped doing build sheets after SN 9315 with just a few after that. Those were probably special ordered for 'good' customers.

Now, everything like that is part of the Classiche program. They will be happy to help, just be prepared to pay.

No, Kerry. Build Sheets extend up into the 12000 range. I have numerous build Sheets for 330's above 9315. Beyond the 12000 range, there are still "sheets", but they are very condensed summaries. I believe they are now only available when a car is certified and for extra money.

Speaking of Build Sheets, do you happen to have one for #10529 my '67 GTC? Or #2259, a '61 GTE? Unrelated, but as long as I'm at it, were "bullet" door mirrors used for 250 GTEs?

GTE: I do not have sheets for either car. Sorry.

I do not have the build sheets for 2259 either. And while the mirrors were put on by the dealers, not the factory, the bullet style is the norm.

Thanks Dyke and Tom for the quick follow up. Bullet style it is! I am looking forward to having a side view mirror.

Hi Michael,

Enjoy your trip to the factory. Like everyone said, information on your car is available, for a price. The Classiche area is a workshop in the separate area and if you show them interest in getting your car certified, they may give you a tour. I was lucky enough to get a factory tour in 2013 because client of mine was getting fitted for a La Ferrari (getting his butt measured for the custom seat!) so they may have thought I was another potential customer. Montana across the street is good place to stop for lunch as it's where many legendary people at Ferrari ate. I had such an extensive tour of the Ferrari and Maserati assembly lines that I never had a chance to see the Ferrari museum across the street, but I heard that's worth seeing.

You can read about my visit here:

Have a good time!

Dyke and I are going to trade some build sheets, so I have his list.

For 330 GTs, beyond 9315, I only show 3 as available from Ferrari although I have an additional 3 not on that Ferrari list. Too bad, but Dyke does not have any 330gt sheets that I don't have.
In his list above 9315, there are mainly 275s, 330 GTC/S, 365s, 512BBs and F40LMs. So, I had assumed from the Ferrari 330GT availability list that I compiled, they had stopped doing build sheets after ~9300s. As usual, one should never assume anything about Ferraris.

Dyke, thanks for the additional information.

Kerry, I think you and I have already swapped build sheets but we should catch up. Dyke, if you have any GTE sheets I would love to compare.
