Testing a zero pressure radiator cap

Post by Steve Meltzer »

I suspecct that the zero pressure radiator cap on my GTC is leaking. How do i test this? There is obviously pressure in the radiator from the hot coolant, so there must be a specification forr that cap, even though the cap itself is not exerting pressure. Any advice? Thanks, Steve.

There is pressure on the cap on the top of the radiator on the 330 GTC becasue the cap on the expansion tank has a pressure spring on it. The flat seal with the nipple is available from Ciccoginani.

A little follow up here. I just pressure tested the entire system, exerting pressure at the overflow tank and found that the radiator cap is perfectly fine. My problem is a leak in the middle of the radiator itself. So, question answered! I just wish it would've been the cap, and not the radiator!
Thanks, Tom.
