Looking for 365 GT 2+2

I found this forum after sending some MSRP data on 365's to the folks who monitor the MSRP list. Kudos to Tom Yang for a really great way to share info and ideas. I came into an inheritance recently that will allow me to fulfill a lifelong desire to own and drive a classic Ferrari V12. For many reasons, the Queen Mother is the model of choice - to get headrests for my wife (old neck injury), an affordable price, and room enough to carry either guests or enough luggage for real trips.

I want a car to DRIVE, not one to put on a pedastal in shows. I hope to "pick the brains" of some current and past posters on 365 topics - people like Bryan, Zac, Robert, Ron, Tom and Bernard -- and others.

I would also want to share anything I know or discover. For starters, does anybody need a copy of the 11/69 Road and Track test, the 3/69 Car and Driver piece by Charles Fox or Karl Ludvigsen's 11/68 test of the 365 GT 2+2 from Sports Car Graphic? I also have the 4/64 Sports Car Graphic preview of Ferrari for 1964 and Bernard Cahier's test of the 330 GT 2+2 from 8/64 in SCG.

Jim Walker, Hope that we can help. Thanks for mag articles offer. Also, Kerry Chesbro's site has some posted electronically, including one I sent him from the Jan 1967 Sports Car Graphic testing the 1966 330 Series II.

The current, May 29, 2004, issue of the Ferrari Market Letter lists six (6) 365 GT 2+2's for sale in the USA. If you do not have access to this, please contact me.

If I were buying one again, I'd also make sure it has complete books and tools. You'll get them at a discount if they come with the car, but trying to find a set post-sale will add $4000 to your cost. If you don't care about books and tools, you can always sell the set you get with the car to me, cause my car doesn't have 'em!

I'll second the comment about books and tools. I'd also look for records (mine has them back through 1978).

I've had mine (12327) for ten years now. It was trouble free for the first 7-8 years and since then I've had a few issues. I've also become more ambitious about it-- I decided I wanted the air conditioning to work, for instance, and this year I am upgrading to inertia-reel seatbelts.

When I was looking for a vintage 2+2 Ferrari I found that complete books and tools were very much the exception. Most of these cars have been through a lot of owners and the books and tools tend to
disappear over 35+ years.

Welcome to my website! A lot of Vintage Ferrari owners stop by this site, so you will get a lot of "real world" advice in owning one of these cars. Don't listen to what the journalists write. I always am amazed how their ten minute drive in a car can offer an impression that lasts an eternity in print!
