Interesting styling. Front very nice, rear end looks like a kit car.

Wow. I'd be really interested in it, if it were't for that rear end!bluecat49 wrote:Front very nice, rear end looks like a kit car.

I wonder if it would be considered "desecrating a classic" and devalue the car to restyle the rear end?Matt F wrote:Wow. I'd be really interested in it, if it were't for that rear end!bluecat49 wrote:Front very nice, rear end looks like a kit car.

Bluecat's question is really intriguing. I guess one would have to wonder which was the classic and when was it (or would it be) desecrated. In other words, whose work to re-body the original car is considered okay, and whose is mereley period hacking of an otherwise good car?
Scaglietti re-bodies are obviously okay, and Neri and Bonacini pass the value test (the famous Nembo spyders). But what other period re-bodies retain at least the current market value of the car's contemporaries?
With all respect due to Tom Meade, while many of his cars are lovely indeed, this one is not, at least from the rear. So would this period rebody really be considered a classic, or is the low asking price reflective of its already diminished value?

Speaking of "classics", I looked into the whereabouts of the Drogo 330 2+2, s/n 7979. It has found a new home now - it was for sale for a long time at Heritage Classics in CA. That would be the ideal rebody candidate-just unbolt the present one, store it for posterity, and rebody the chassis as a GTB or whatever.
No desecration involved, and if someone wanted to revive it on another 330 2+2 chassis, sell it to them.
