I thought I post this just in case everyone is asleep at the wheel.

Hi John,

No, we're awake! We were talking about it in an earlier post.

Incorrect fuel hoses, and the disinterest in painting the air cleaner leads me to ask what else was neglected? If $6K was recently spent, why wasn't a tune-up also done while it was at the shop? At 60K+ miles, what condition are the valveguides and valvetrain in? I'd get third party compression numbers, and a thorough inspection before buying. Not only can this car "nickel and dime" you to death, but it can also kill you by the thousands of dollars!

the 330GT 2+2 auction ended prematurely. there is now a "prototype" 365GT 2+2 for sale, $25K for now

The first 365 (s/n 10431) is indeed the prototype and the first of its kind. That alone should be worth a premium. In addition, the car appears to be in excellent cosmetic condition. The scary thing, though, is that it has only been driven 300 miles in the last 15 years!

365 prototype on ebay

Post by Yale »

Oh my God, look at that, Tony Pro on ebay. That prototype 365 2+2 is being sold by Tony Provansano, "Tony Pro." He has a collectors car emporium down the block from me (180 Sports) and indeed I have seen that 365 in the window. I am surprised that is the prototype. Many of his cars come from "his collection" and he has the full range of stuff from Ford Hi-Boy rods, to at this moment an amazing looking Austin Healy 100. You know, funny enough, I did see a quite tatty 365 2+2 out in front of his shop about four years ago, but it was green. I wonder if it is the same car cleaned up and painted resale red.

To be frank I am not sure I would ever buy a car from him. Course can't think of a plethora of dealers I would feel comfortable buying a car from.

You'd think for such a valuable car, they woud take the time to roll it out of the garage for at least ONE decent picture?

On that second 365, could they have possibly found an uglier battery? Doesn't anyone make them in Neon Pink, or magenta???

I am interested in 250 Series cars and not that familiar with the 330 as far as pricing. But at $35,000 can you buy a car that is running? The cheapest 330 I have ever seen was $49,000.

I think the term "running" is left to a large range of interpretation!

The market is going up, but occasionally a deal can be found. Also remember, that these are asking prices. What the car actually sells for may be different.

needs some TLC. probably a fascinating endeavour.... otherwise, there's a 4-headlamp 330 for sale on ebay these days, going for ~ 26K

That's the first 365GTC/4 I've seen on e-bay in a long time! It's going to be interesting to see how much it auctions for in the end. I'm not so sure if I like the color though!

Has this 330 been auctioned before? Seems presentable.
Negative points:
cut up center console for speakers
incorrect steering wheel

that 330 has been coming back up for 2-3 times in the last month.... some jokers must be bidding on it and having to retract their bids once the time is up.

there's also a 330 GTC, bronze, which had been discussed earlier on this board, which pops up every so often.

I'm partial to GTCs but I think the color of this one does not help it any. Otherwise it looks like a nice clean example. I know very well though that a nice clean example can easily eat up $40,000 to $50,000 pretty quickly without any trouble. Without everything being fresh on the car maybe $65,000 is about right.
