well, I bought 'em. thanks for the head's up, fest!

I'll keep you all posted as to how they fit, and how I'm going to fasten them - I've seen some nice and some not-so-nice methods.

here is another set!
same seller?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... vi%3A1%3A3

this raises some interesting questions:
seller has more than one set? (seems unlikely)
parts are reproductions? (seems more likely)
it is a scam? (possible, I guess).

Bryan, let us (me) know when you get them if they are OK
(and most importantly how do they FIT!)

I have seen Francois with new, (nos? oem? blah, blah, blah) headlight covers for a GTB and they were oversize and had to be cut to fit. He marked off the outline to cut with a sharpee. I don't really know how he did that or how he cut that difficult shape. Yale

hmmmm - same seller, same description, same pictures.

I've paid (paypal) and have a UPS tracking no., so they are allegedly on their way. Every other item this seller has sold on ebay is VW-related. I'm sure these are reproductions - they don't even have mounting holes which was part of the reason I was attracted to them.

I fully expect to have to do a lot of fussing to get them to fit and will try the bolt-thru-the-ferrule method of attachment rather than the bent-clip arrangement.

OK, I am breathing again; the covers arrived today, USPS.

Although, as expected, a lot of fitting/carving will have to be done, I am generally pleased with the quality. They are sturdy - probably 1/8" thick? The most problematic aspect is that the radius corresponding to the headlight radius is too small - heat will have to be applied to enlarge it before trimming can be done.

The covers will be a fall project - the current project is getting the AC going - the system was cleaned, pressure-checked, and juiced . . . . . and blew cold for about 20 minutes before going back to its balmy state.

Before anyone else bids on these ebay covers, contact Bernard Fahemian of this site whom I believe has at least one pair he is willing to part with.
