detrmining age of tires

Post by lukek »

Here is a useful article for determining age of tires. Many of us bought our cars after they sat, so determining the age of the rubber could be a critical safety step. I think the general rule is to go no longer than 5-6 years, or swap earlier due to mileage wear (head of a penny test or visual issues)

Enough has been posted about tire sizes and brands in other threads, but this is a handy reference for making sure you have got a relatively fresh set that will not put you in the ditch when the tread decides to separate on the next club drive.
