Hey all,
I was in L.A. this weekend and just happened to be driving down Santa Monica Blvd when I spotted Heritage Classics, so I pulled over and did a little window shopping - bummer, they were closed. I was very surprised to see the newly "restored" GTE sitting in the front window, with it's shiny silver paint and pitted, rusty headlight surrounds. In fact, nearly all of the chrome was severly pitted. I wish I'd had my camera with me. Why someone would bother to do paint and interior and then leave the chrome trim all nasty like that is beyond me. Why not spend the extra grand and really make it nice, since they are asking "all the money" for it.

Ok, not a grand for all the chrome - hyperbole, guys. My point is why repaint the car and put the nasty trim pieces back on when trying to get top dollar for the car? The headlight surrounds were the most overtly bad looking pieces, and you could certainly get those rechromed for a few hundred bucks, at least out here in AZ. On a GTE, I'd expect concours condition for $88k.

I went to the Heritage site and couldn't tell too much about the chrome from the pics of the GTE. The headlight rings do look dull.
That's also a beautiful original 330 2+2 at $76.5K, but on close inspection of the pics there are a few odds and ends that need attention, and I'm sure a personal look would show more. Any of you taken a close look at this one?
It looks like they are testing the market to see if it will bear some new highs for very nice but not perfect specimens of these models.
This will be interesting to follow.

Chrome and stainless polishing
2 yrs ago i had all the chrome redone - all the stainless polished and the total bill was about 8500.00. Its an expensive proposition, but i agree with the notes above, why go thru the efforts of paint and interior and not do the chrome and stainless........its only money!!
