I'am gonna go for a 400 carbu...

Tom,
I think I am gonna go for a silver bleue 400 GT Auto, with the six double webers. It's 33000 km, very good body condition, runs great.1977.
Now, the only problem I still have with this car is the history tracability.
I should become the fourth (i guess) owber.
The current owner has his service record.
The previous one as well, he is the father in law of the current one so, it's easy.
Then, its the black out : dead owner, garage shut down...
Any tips?

Hi Thy,

What country is this car registered? Since there were less Ferrari dealers in '77 than now, you can sometimes guess which dealer sold the car. Call the dealer, and see if they have any records on that serial number.

In the U.S., we have http://www.carfax.com/ , but I've never used them, and don't know how reliable their information is. I think they let you do one free search, so it might be worth a look.

Good luck, and let us know what you find so we can learn how to search the history of a car!

There a couple of ways that you might find some more of the cars history. Have a look at http://www.red-headed.com/ and/or email the site owner, Edvar, at daalen@red-headed.com. Edvaar is a complete Ferrari nut and a very nice guy. He has details of a huge number of cars and where abouts they were on certain dates - he told me about mine appearing at a show 6 or 7 years ago! He also has a list of chassis numbers. Trust me he is worth contacting.

Secondly you could have a look at http://www.barchetta.cc/All.Ferraris/ and follow the 'Ferraris by Chassis Number' link on the left hand side. Yours may be there but a previous owner would have had to sent the details to Mr Pirro.
