Valve tool

Tom,

Would you know where I can find the USAG valve adjustment tool that I mentioned in my message of 7/23?

When I was going through the valve adjustment, I noticed one of the exhaust cam rollers was loose.  I actually measured a clearance of more than 40 thou (instead of the usual 8 thou).  When I removed the roller I noticed that the ID (the copper/ bronz insert) had been enlarged.

The thing is that the car ran fine all along and the spark plug that came out of this cylyinder look okay, just like the other 11 plugs.

I got the part on order but is there something to worry about?

Hi John,

It's a common wear item on these valve trains, and should be replaced as they wear. The wear was compensated by the last valve adjustment, and no one noticed. Once the new one is installed, you'll have no worries.

I don't know where you'd find that tool, but with the power of the internet, I'm sure you'll locate one. Maybe someone reading this post can help out?
