Reliability

Post by wwwboard »

I am about to purchase a 1986 Ferrari 328 GTS,
my first Ferrari, I have owned numerous BMW's
& Mercedes. Can anyone out there tell me more
about the reliability of these cars, I have heard
about the cost of maintenance (15000 Miles).
But would like to know more info. if at all possible.
I know you do not compare a Ferrari to a BMW
but trust me guys, I had a BMW M635csi/Grey Mkt.
and that was in the shop all the time, last time
it needed a new head, $9000 for the head alone.
So please let me know what I am getting myself
into.. Thanks

If the car has been well cared for and serviced properly, the 328 engine is almost bullet proof. I have a 91 348 with essentially the same engine. 15K services are about $3K, 30K services are about $4500. Even if the car hasn't reached 30K miles, I'd have the cam belts checked because of the age. Better safe than sorry.
