Hi Craig,

Although I know more about Vintage Ferraris than cars newer than '72, there are some universal things you should know. Buy the best you can afford, and absolutely have a Ferrari mechanic familier with working on those cars do a prepurchase inspection. A few hundred dollars spent here will save you thousands, if not tens of thousands, in the future. If you find a car from a dealer, try to have a third party mechanic inspect the car, preferably the guy who you will be bringing the car to for repairs. Your mechanic will want you to buy a good car more than their mechanic that simply wants to sell the car!

Now call me old fashioned, but I would NEVER buy a car sight unseen! Trust me, photography can hide a lot. Besides, only you will be pulling up the carpets to look for rust, or sighting the body for hidden accident damage.

http://www.Ferrarilist.com is a good resource for 308 owners, along with some of the other newsgroups if you can mull through the "my Ferrari is faster than your Ferrari" talk.  Another great resource is http://home.att.net/~ferrari/308faq1.htm

Good luck.
