I have a 1978 308 GTS with 30,000 miles and still with the original timing belt. To avoid disaster, it needs to be replaced and I would like to do it myself. Anybody out there have tips, instructions, cautions etc. that may help? thanks!!

Hi Larry,
REPLACE THAT BELT!!! That belt breaks not only from miles, but also from age!!! If it's the original belt, I would be very afraid to drive it anywhere until the belt is changed!!!
Alright, I've spoken my peace...Now it's time to join all your V-8 brethren at:
http://home.att.net/~ferrari/308faq1.htm
And Ferrarilist.com and plenty of other resources on the web for 308s. Many of these places have detailed instructions on how to do it. Good luck!
