I presently own a 1977 512 BB that has been repainted all black. As the A/C does not work that well and as an aesthetic issue, I ma considering painting it. I have considered various colors with the exception of red. My question is - " Did the factory paint the 512 in a silver ?"

I feel that black is the best color for the Boxer, but  I understand your dilemna.  I remember seeing one of the first Boxers in the country a long time ago and it was silver.  It looked great and I think that I would choose silver as my second favorite color for the car.  Good luck.

There is a book entitled,"Ferrari Berlinetta Boxer", by Mel Nichols, published by Osprey. It is out of print but still available from FML. There are lots of color photo's of early vintage Boxer's, and they run the color spectrum.  A worthwhile little book.

Yes, Argenta Nurburgring (Silver) was a factory color on the 512BB.  It was on less than 10% of the cars.  It was also a color on the BBi, but even less popular.

Some of the Telaio (s/n) painted in this color at the factory are:

19927
20153
20289
21123
23861
26357
26947
27869
27935
29643
29823

I have a number of color photos of Argenta Nurburgring BB's.  If you would like to see some examples, please e-mail me privately.

Fantastic Website!!!

Autosport Designs happen to have a silver 512 BB for sale, so you can see what it would look like. I have included the link, below, as "Silver Boxer."

The blue upper and black lower paint combination will be the one for my Boxer.

Hi Gary,

I'm glad you like the site!

I don't care what color my Boxer is, as long it's a fast one!
