I would appreciate any help in either replacing my Marchal 7" 12 Volt No, 1263b headlight assemblys or advice as to their restoration. My car is a 3rd series 250 GTE

Hi Graeme,

Standard round hi/low beam headlights fit in my headlight buckets. I understand Marchal headlights are occasionally available, but I wanted more wattage as I plan to drive my car.

The Marchal lens has their crest molded into the lens, and if yours are in good shape, you can have the reflector assembly re-silvered. Here in the States, we have many shops that provide this service.

Good luck!

Greetings.   Tom, you mention "several" places to have headlights redone.  I've only found one in Hemmings called Steves in Washington (I think).  $75 each for 7 inchers.  Anyone else have any experience having this done.  I have a pair of Lucas PL700s just itching to go in the 61 Morgan.     tim

Hi Tim,

A quick search on the internet yielded two places:

1. Uvira, Inc.
310 Pleasant Valley Rd.
Merlin, OR 97532
Telephone: (541) 956-6880
Fax: (541) 476-9096

2. http://www.stevesautorestorations.com/silvering.htm

There's also a product that http://eastwoodco.com has that comes in a spray can. It's probably not as good as the real plating, but may be good enough if you don't have a choice.

I  had my 1263B headlamps restored. After much research I chose to use Vintage Headlamp restoration in England. The domestic companies seemed inferior to VHR. The owner is Lee Appleyard. Lee informed me that most often the headlight backs are to worn to be resilvered and the only way to go is to fabricate new backs and fit the original lamps to the new backs. Mine turned out beautiful. I would advise that you send the correct bulb along with the lamps so they can make the bulb opening perfect. Finally the cost ! --300 british pounds
