Pledge Drive

Post by tyang »

Hi Guys,

O.K. I'm going to try the pledge drive method to generate some monetary support for my time and efforts to keep this website. Here's the Post:
Pledge Drive

This Web Site has been in existence since July of 1999 and in that 7
1/2 years it has grown beyond my imagination. I started this website to
simply document my Ferrari Restoration, and organize some of the
information I was learning about these old cars. I searched the web for
useful information for restoring a Vintage Ferrari, and found almost
nothing, so I decided to build a website based on a model of me being
my biggest fan. Everything you see here is what I want to see in a
Vintage Ferrari Website. I humbly admit that this site has reached
Ferrari Fans and Owners all over the world, and I'm very proud of what
I've done.

Although I love running this site as much as I love working on my cars,
love doesn't pay the bills! Updating, maintaining, and administrating a
forum keeps me busy enough, let alone working on cars to write about!
I've struggled for years trying to decide if I should charge for the
benefits of this site, as people pay for magazine subscriptions for
only monthly delivery of content. I want to keep the information and
access available to everyone, but feel it is time to ask for some
support. I've decided to try a sort of "pledge drive" for the month of
December where if people who feel this site offers something worthwhile
can send money in support of my efforts. You can send money via Paypal to my account
tom@tomyang.net , or send checks made out to "Tomyang.net LLC" to the
address below:
Tom Yang
P.O. Box 36
Hollowville, NY 12530

I thank you in advance for your support, and hope to continue bringing
this website and forum for many years to come!
Thanks everyone!

Tom

Hi Tom, at first I thought this might be another one of those Nigerian scams but with the other guys chipping in I feel a bit more safe. Seriously this is long overdue. As Michael B said this site has probably saved us all countless dollars in unmade mistakes and not having to buy materials for all the info given out . Check is on the way. Mike

Thanks Michael. This site has saved us all lots of money and time with the resource of information available to us. I've also met and and made some friends from this site that I would have otherwise never have done. It's nice to know that others feel the same way!

Since I wouldn't have my car if it wasn't for this site (one of these days I will post the story), it's only fair to make a contribution. My check is already in the mail. Thanks Tom.

I hope it's not just the regulars. I get a ton of information out of this site but don't (yet) have much to contribute -- therefore I actually feel more obligated to contribute than if I were a regular poster. I am very happy to help financially to offset my "value extracted vs. value added" deficit -- hope others like me will do same.

Regards,
Peter

I'll get a check in the mail. Thank you so much. Our Ferraris are much better off having this site!

It would be fun to read your story, as I got involved with it towards the end. I could add my side of the story to show that it was fate for you to own that 330 America!

Thanks for contributing, and to everyone else who have felt this site is worthwhile of their support!
