The importance of grease
Tom: While you showed the Gang your throttle linkage which looks terrific, you did not show us the flourish on the end of your choke cable, which dazzled Mike and me at Bill Pollards.

I forgot to include it in the batch, but I'll get it coated next time!

You don't have to "get it coated next time!" You can just go to a sporting goods shop that sells guns or a gun shop and buy a tube of Perma Blue made by Birchwood Casey. It's a selenium dioxide paste for bluing guns. (gun blue isn't blue - it's black oxide). It may not be quite as durable as a "HOT black oxide" treatment, but for parts that stay oily anyway and aren't handled, it will do the trick. It's a lot cheaper and you don't have to wait for the parts to come back. Just degrease the parts, rinse with water, wipe dry, and rub on some selenium dioxide paste with a cotton ball. Wait 30 seconds and wipe it off, rinse with water and wipe the parts with an oiled cloth. Done! A 56 gram tube cost me about $8.00 and there's just about enough in one tube for all the linkage parts.
I bought it for two hub puller pull pins that came without black oxide and a turn bar that I had to have made (the original turn bar was missing). It works like a charm, but will not work on aluminum, stainless steel, or non-ferrous metals.

Not to get too anal, but the length of one leg of the "equilateral triangle" would be informative, if a triangle is what's recommended as being "correct".Rudy van Daalen Wetters wrote:Yes, we need to see that it is an equilateral triangle.
