How not to Restore A 250 GTE
How not to Restore A 250 GTE
My friend went to a car show in Oxnard, Ca. on Sunday and took these photos. I have been reading this forum for a long time but never posted. So here goes. I was sad to see these pictures. The owner clearly put a lot of effort in messing up his car. I love the mirror on the dash.
On a personal note. I just put the engine back in 250 GTE #2599 and it runs great. I'm very close to having her back on the road. I wanted to thank Tom and all the people that post on this forum. It has been a great help and source of inspiration. I will try to post some pictures soon of my own cars.

First off, congratulations on your first post! Don't be such a stranger to posting. It sounds like you have just as much information to share with us as we do here. As far as the 'Chevari" is concerned, it could have been worse. He could have chopped up the lines of the GTE! If it wasn't for guys like these, GTE body shells would be rotting in a field. They're pretty cars, and if a guy wants to put one back on the road, great! I like the brake pedal set up.

If it is all Chevy guts, then I say he should go the whole way and make it a lowrider; give it the Foose treatment. I may actually pay a few bucks to see sparks shooting out from under a vintage Ferrari.
On the other hand, I could just wait around for a queen mother to experience a leveller failure and get the same result!

It's a third series car from the placement of the fog lights in the bodywork, but with the incorrect (like it matters) first/second series taillights. Not sure if that stain on the ground is from a little simple overheating or from some real vintage Ferrari fan who lost his midday beverage when he sighted this creation.
