Hello Tom
What the heck did it hit to cause that sort of damage?

Hi Ian,

No Idea. Maybe one of our LA Ferrari guys might know more. Has Tom S. offered to buy this car at half the asking price?

????? Tom, you know whose car this is. Art was going to buy it at auction and it went too high, I guess they have still not sold it. It belonged to a member of this site, (I don't remember who, was it Scott Amis?). Yale

5409.

The guy in TX that bought it at the insurance auction (with salvage title) sold it at a loss, probobly under $50K (I almost bought it but the price did not drop enough for me) to the salvage yard in CA. Just like the guy in TX, they thought they could make a killing on it.

The car was rust free and in decent mechanical condition but has now been passed around and uncared for for quite some time. The entine front clip is slightly shifted with the cowel buckled in front of the windshield. It could probobly be made into a nice driver with $10-$20K of bodywork assuming it hasn't deteriorated too much since Scott had it.

Yea, this car has been on ebay a few times. Wanted all the money and then some with a salvage title. I never looked at the car because the price was never in the ball park.

Hello Kerry
Congratulations to you on such a comprehensive history on 5409,which is indeed interesting reading.
What a great shame that such a nice car has been ruined & then is priced too high to be a realistic restoration project.
Could it be another one that will eventually end up with Shaughnessy???
Do you have any idea what inflicted the damage.

The first post in http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showth ... p?t=158851 has some information. Perhaps ArtS knows more as he was quite active in trying to buy it.
