a new project begins
Re: a new project begins
Thank You Tom,
that is the piece I am talking about, I have the one that goes on the sill where the latch is but am missing the one on the back edge of the trunk. For some reason I was thinking in was more complicated than a straight piece with a rounded edge, if it is that easy I will make one up today.
Thanks for the offer but I have the radiator shield and it is in spectacular shape, that brings up another question though. Does anyone know if that piece is painted black, body color or undercoated? I think I found reminants of undercoating on mine.
Mr. Tom Wilson. Do you have a time I can meet up with you and pick up the belly pan? the sooner I get it to Beckamn the sooner he can make a new one for me.

Re: a new project begins
I will be in Del Mar for Mothers Day weekend. Can you wait for me to come down or do you want to meet half way?
Re: a new project begins
No, the back one is easier to make than the one down by the trunk latch. I think it's the same profile, but the one down my the latch has a bend in it.zac wrote:Thank You Tom,

I believe the radiator pan is painted semi-gloss black, but undercoat is not out of the question. I think they sprayed what they saw fit when spraying undercoat back in the day.

Re: a new project begins
My belly pan for the rest of the car is semi gloss paint. However, it is a much later car than Zac's, being a Series III.
Re: a new project begins
I will go with Black for now on the belly pans, can always uncoat them later.
Mother's day weekend is good for me Tom, actually works out good.

Lookin'g good Zac! It is finally coming together. Really sorry I will not be at the Father's day show. Will have to come down for a private showing.
Re: a new project begins
The final push is on, all the mechanical items are sorted and now we just have to finish putting everything on and detailing. We copied some original shocks and made a new set from scratch to match the Milleto brand shocks that came on the car. Thanks to Tom Wilson lending his Belly pan a new one was made copieing his sample, amazinly enough most of the mounting holes are the same except the rear chassis was changed slightly over the course of production. New heat shields were made since mine were long lost, and finaly late last night we put the engine in for the final time and hooked everthing up. The car fired off with a turn of the key and with any luck I will be driving it around the Parking lot next week.

Re: a new project begins
You make your own shocks??? That is impressive. The photos look fantastic. Can't wait to see (and hear) it in person. I assume that it will be in Carmel this August?
Re: a new project begins
I've been looking at Zac's pictures he posted the prototype 2+2, and noticed something different about the car.
The bottom of the valance does not come down as far as the later GTEs. I don't think you can see the Brake Equalizer valve dead on with other GTEs because it's blocked by the valance. That's why the front splash shield is different from the later GTEs. Look at where the location of the bumper mounts in relation to the two lower vent openings compared to the picture of my car in my avatar.
Just thinking out loud.

Re: a new project begins
well the long road to completion ended on Friday night at 8:00, car was loaded on the transporter and shipped to Rodeo Drive for the father's day show.
there are still some loose ends to wrap up but the GTE was well received by all.
a few pictures I borrowed from a poster on F-chat, I had several photoghaphers there but have not received all the pictures yet
