At least three completely different types of front valances were used early on. This is the first version that was used up to s/n 22xx. The 2nd version was used up to 27xx and third version from there on. Some of it is documented in the parts catalogue, but it is far from accurate.

Best wishes, Kare

PS. Zac, did you get the wipers running?

Stunning car, incredible, love it!
Wished I made it that day.

Question on brake fluid resevoir cap.
Not a "Fiat" cap on this car?

Rudy ,
Take of the sunglasses the cap is painted black, thats is correct.
The only thing in that corner ,Which can be said ,Is that the Bonaldi is not placed in line.
the metal Bonaldi decal dissapiered after putting in the engine.

but thats ALL peanuts.

The blue Fiat label is under the black paint. I've seen flat black, wrinkle black, and the plain blue Fiat label on the reservoir cap. The logic behind the paint is Ferrari painted over these caps so there would not be a "FIAT" logo in the Ferrari engine compartment. I think through the years, owners have cleaned up the paint, and left off the original paint covering the logo. I paint the caps with flat black paint when I detail a car.

Tom

nice job Zac. I hope I get to see the car in Monterey?

I think that FIAT logo was painted over ONLY on some early cars that were used for either promotion photos or motor shows. It is VERY RARE to see a black painted cap on period articles. IMO painting it over in a standrad production car is a mistake. I have not studied this in depth yet, but will do so in the future.

Does anyone have a current photo of
an actual unrestored Fiat cap that is
painted? My thought is that the paint
was very thin and that there would
have been serious adhesion issues
with any type of paint sticking to
such a smooth surface. Just curious.

Thank You for the complements and comments

original booster sticker location was measured off the original when I removed it before plating, note 2171s sticker and in the scan from the 1960 yearbook. Also here is a picture of the brake resivoir cap on 2171 with the black undercoating in place, I have other reference pictures on cars but they can not be shared in a public forum. You can also look on page 70 of the GTE owners manual to see the resivoir cap clearly painted over, I agree with Kare' though it may have been done on cars that lead a more public life and left alone on customer cars. Another possibilty is that people replaced the brake fluid cap over the years with a Fiat one since they are easy to find and once that gasket goes it leaks fluid all over the engine. I have seen the brass tag on several boosters and it is on the GTE, it is just located in the bottom corner out of sight because that is where I found it when I did the disassembly. last picture is of 1891s booster and resivoir which shows sticker location and a brake resivoir cap unpainted.

please keep the comments coming though, I have done lots of research over the process of doing this car but it is impossible to know everything.

Hi Zac,
the second foto is very interesting,
because each distributor has 2 coils and 2 condensators !!!!!!
And no red resistors.
Never see this on any Ferrari,
only on Maserati and comp. cars.
Is this an Marelli distributor?
It will be impassible to find this caps .

All the best.
All the other Yangers are sleeping, I think.

They look like Bosch distributors (?)- they were original on some of the 400 SuperAmericas. Would not be surprised if they are found here and there on the odd 250 or 330. Like the Lucas distributors used by Ferrari for a small number of cars in the late 1950s, Ferrari sometimes experimented with suppliers.
