Vacuum hose solution
Vacuum hose solution
TY .
"I'm struggling, however, with some of the original details. This vacuum hose was an original hose, still with its Pirelli sticker on the hose, but replacing it with a new hose would destroy this piece of originality."
If you really will save this I would advise a STENT.
will close evtl. leakage too
Ask Steve M. how to insert.
Here some background info for older malepersons
A ureteral stent, sometimes as well called ureteric stent, is a thin tube inserted into the ureter to prevent or treat obstruction of the urine flow from the kidney. The length of the stents used in adult patients varies between 24 to 30 cm. Additionally, stents come in differing diameters or gauges, to fit different size ureters. The stent is usually inserted with the aid of a cystoscope. One or both ends of the stent may be coiled to prevent it from moving out of place, this is called a JJ stent, double J stent or pig-tail stent.
in this case 4cm is enough I think.

Re: Vacuum hose solution
Hi Cornelis,
Interesting solution! I'm going to see if the hose still holds vacuum, and see if it needs a repair, The outer sheathing looks bad, but there is an inner hose that still seems to be intact.
Thanks!
Tom

Re: Vacuum hose solution
Tho' we don't use stents too often in gynecology, it's a great thought for this application. Hearing about "double J" stents takes me back to my internship days on the urology service. I guess I'd rather see women all day than old guys like me. s

Hi Steve,
Most guys here will envy you with this quatation " I guess I'd rather see women all day than old guys"
this remainds me on Raymond Chandler words :
From 30 feet away she looked like a lot of class.
From 2 feet away( your distance) she looked like something made up to be seen
from 30 feet away.

Re: Vacuum hose solution
I'm still laughing about that little quote! Anyhow, tho' we don't use stents, I have some rigid plastic disposable instruments that come in various diameters that could easily be "lubed up" ?KY jelly?? (only kidding) and slipped inside the tubing, thus acting like a stent. Tom, if you're interested, let me know the ID that you need and let me see what I can drop in the mail for you. steve "I've spent all of my money on wine, women and fast cars, and squandered the rest"

And while at it you might as well measure that vacuum tube too!Steve Meltzer wrote:Tom, if you're interested, let me know the ID that you need and let me see what I can drop in the mail for you.

Re: Vacuum hose solution
I have always wondered about stenting in the yellow fuel hoses. Like Persian rugs, they become more elegant with age while they rut from within. I dislike the fresh look of the new hoses.

Re: Vacuum hose solution
Great question, but I'll bet it would much harder to stent the yellow hoses.....liquid fuel under positive pressure versus negative air pressure. At more than a
buck an inch, might be worth trying, and, an old hose with patina, does look better. s

Re: Vacuum hose solution
Steve and John,
why place a stent in the yellow hoses if they do not leak?
I think it is sold to persons who like new hoses more mainly for the optic I think.
The argument is E 10 destroy the inside rubber.
Well this can be said to full rubber tubes used in the 60th till the 90th.
the org. yellow and brown hoses are from far more better quality.
yes they will get hard outside,, but dont leak.
I own about 50 old complete yellow and brown tubes, these when working didn't leaking ever.
I have place 5 of them in Super E10 for 5-6 years in a tupperware closed box.
I canot see anything of damage,
Why do I own so much lines?
Simply I replace them all in the conviction its on the saver side.
Now I am thinking differant.
We have thee filter unit in the hole fuel system
Big filter in the back, glass filter in motor bay. and thee filter in the carburatorchrome line.
no rubber particles ever found here.
The problem is i.m.o dry out(run out of fuel)...... thats not driving.
oil lines give no problems
I often have a contravesy opinion agains others.
But hey ,this is an discussion forum.
I love to hear differant opinions.
P.S the only leaking lines,at mine place, I`ve seen were new fabricated lines.

Re: Vacuum hose solution
Hi Cornelis, no need to replce if they do not leak, but sometimes the ends leak and when one tries to undo the end to re-seal, the hose breaks. When this happens one ends up cutting off an inch or two and sometimes the hose becomes too short to refit. But, you're right, regular excercise is important.

Me too, me too! I wasn't thinking of this for a leaking yellow hose. I'd love to exercise my Cavalinos...if they'd ever stop breaking! s
