Ferrari 250 GTE Stolen

Post by tyang »

Attention All,

Markus Bester's GTE was stolen in Germany! His car and trailer were stolen from the front of the hotel near the Nurburgring Racetrack during the AVD-Oldtimer- Grand Prix 2014 weekend. Markus has posted pictures of his car on this forum, and here is the information on the car:

Grey Metallic with a beige interior.
2281 GT
Engine: Type 128E , number 138E
Gearbox (not original , wrong, see my postings at your forum) Type 508E ,
original gearbox in my garage
Rearaxle Type 508E , 7x32 , number 27E
PF Job 39744

Numberplate (german registration) HB-FH88H

I hope the car can be recovered, but if it gets split up, most of the body parts on this car will have the PF job number stamped or written them. Often this number will contain just the last three digits and in this case will be "744." Please keep your eye out for this car.

I wish Markus all the luck in recovering his car, and I hope with all of us helping, he'll get it back in one piece.

Thank you.

Here are some more details from Markus:
It was near the Nürburgring/Germany, the city called "Daun" . There is the "Sporthotel Grafenwald" http://www.sporthotel-grafenwald.de/
At 10:30 pm on Friday the 8th we arrived there and parked the Trailer with the Mercedes G-Modell in front at the street.
At 12pm the trailer was there already - someone else saw it there
At 07 am on Saturdy the trailer was gone - with my GTE in it - someone else noticed it at this time.
At 10 am we saw, that the trailer was stolen and called the police.
Here's a picture of the trailer.

Oh boy ,thats very sad news Markus,

Better say a disaster, insurance company´s- in my case- would only pay when the car stays in a closed hotel parking and not outside .

I will advice you not to publisch EVERYTHING in the future you do on facebook and other social media Markus.

this is one of the reasons I refuse to publisch my chasis numbers to anybody.

Wish you all the best.

In discussing this with Markus, it almost sounds like it was a theft of opportunity, and perhaps they did not know what was inside the trailer. I don't know what is worse. Let's hope the thieves find out what they stole will be very hard to sell, and abandon the car somewhere for the authorities to find.

Everyone cross your fingers.

Markus, so sorry to hear the news.
Really hoping that this turns out ok, its a small world , vintage Ferraris, that should work in your favour.

Quite bizarre to read this.

I was at Hotel Grafenwald the evening before (thursday) for the finish diner of the AvD Heldentour, but left for OPG late thursday night and slept closer to Ring. My bus and trailer actually stayed behind until friday because some friends brought it over the next morning. There was a security team there during the night thursday-friday to watch the parking area for the Heldentour cars, were they there friday as well? I unloaded an old red press-Giulietta late that night, that was going to be picked up by alfa germany, you might have seen it still there on friday.

I wish you the best off luck with recovery, it amazes me that they would dare to steal from such a long steep dead-end road, with very limited escape routes. Bizarre story!

Beste regards,

Stevie

I am so sorry to hear about your car Markus.
I hope you get it back soon.

Each night I search the internet world wide for Ferrari parts for my 330, if anything suspicious crops up I'll be certain to let you know. If it leads to your car then you can keep the reward, your joy in getting it back is reward enough for me.

Good Luck

Darren

Picked up the new copy of "Octane" today, this story and the car 's numbers are carried in the magazine.
Good to see, difficult for the thieves to ever sell any significant part of this car.
If I were advising them , it would be to take the reward for this highly visible prize and skulk back into the shadows.

Only 85 km from the Nürburgring the next contemporary Car was stolen !
A friend of mine parked his Maserati 3500GT Vignale Spyder at a underground garage at colonge/germany. In the morning of the 4th of march the car was stolen out of this garage.

Same area, similar type of car (also a 1961), similar method of theft ...

Please keep open your eyes and let anyone know, whom it may concern.

Nothing news ...

But please remember the numbers of the car, if you see any numbered part of a 250 GTE to buy.

Thank you for any efforts !
