Listing

Post by GEODAVKY »

My car is 3/4" lower on the drivers side as you can see by the photo. Anybody else had this problem and if so how did you fix it?

Is the car parked on an absolutely even surface? I once parked one of my front wheels in a small hole and almost freaked out when I saw how the rear of the car tilted!

Have a heavy passenger!

Is the front leaning the same amount?

Yes the front is listing as well. So the driver's side is listing front and rear.

Did the "problem" appear over night, gradually over long period or has it "always" been there ?

I would first check the springs in the FRONT I
if they are original, you can expect the same wear left and right.
When you are lucky you can read the factory inscription on top.
often gone by friction.
are the circlips which hold the spring holder in the right groove on the bottom ?
see pics below for better understanding.

good luck

So could just the front spring on one side cause that whole side to list?

Most of the car weight is in the front.
is the space between body front arch and tire left and right the same?
I have had and broken frontspring inside the springhousing and was not visible on a roll carlift.
better is to look on a 4 point car lift to the front suspension with the wheels hanging free.
these are only suggestions.
adjustable koni´s ? or leaking ones etc, etc.
body accident in the past with bended chassis problems?
you could also "trick" to place one clip one groove higher and see what happens.

I'll get it on a lift and see what we can find. Thanks for the tips.

Geo:

See the other thread on this subject, "250 GTE Rear Springs and Shocks". I posted a picture of my broken rear spring leaves there. Your problem could also be some broken rear leaves on that left side. Also, 9129 (now-repaired) seems to list to port also, but the tilt is so slight as to make one wonder if it is truly listing or if the perception is a problem with the observer.
