My 1972 365 GTC4 fuel pump has started to act up. Yesterday while driving the pump stopped working 2 times. The first time the car stalled and after I came to a stop I was able to re-start the car.You could hear the fuel pump going until if filled up the carbs as per normal. The car had about a 1/4 tank of gas in it so I was not out of gas however to be safe I put in 10 gallons of gas and it took it to between 1/2 and 3/4 of a tank. I was able to drive the car for about 15 miles without a problem. The second time the car car quit there was no noise from the fuel pump. I had to tap the fuel pump with a hammer to get it to start. I was able to get the car home - approximately 20 miles without a problem. I assume that I will either need a new pump or can I repair the old one?
If it can't be repaired, where can I located a new one?
I also posted this on the 365 GTC4 Forum.
Thanks,
Fred

Re: 365 GTC4 Fuel Pump
Hi Fred,
These Facet fuel pumps are readily available and may even be stocked by a local parts warehouse. You may have to transfer some fittings and electrical connectors, but all basic stuff. You may have to drain the tank so the fuel doesn't try to drain out of the tank when you have the lines disconnected.
Did the C4s have two pumps?
There is also a filter on these pumps that can get clogged. The end cap can be taken off to see if the screen is clogged, but from your description, it sounds like the fuel pump is dying.
Good luck!

Hi Fred,
That's the animal. You may have to adapt some lines, or move them from the old pump, but you should be able to make it work. I would take a peek under there and see if you have one or two before you order.

Re: 365 GTC4 Fuel Pump
There are a few versions of the Facet pump, be sure you get the lower pressure 2.5 - 4 psi version as there are higher pressure models in that line. Summit and Autozone etc., stock these. Many of the Weber equipped Ferraris used this as OEM, and at that time were Bendix, which became Facet. Great pumps and able to stand the modern fuels.
