GTC Lucas alternator #

Post by enio45 »

Im missing the alternator on the GTC that we are restoring for a client.

According to the build sheet - it is a LUCAS type 542-162-50

Can anyone translate this to the correct lucas number / alternator?

I believe Jag used a lot of LUCAS and is the same type but i don't know how to fig what the jag number would be etc?

Appreciate the help.

Greetings... Complete Auto Electric have one listed on eBay. They are in Van Nuys Ca. Company has a spotty reputation so I would have anything from them tested. They list as BNR. My 64 330 GT has a Marelli. You sure it calls for Lucas

Found a thread that claimed it was "Lucas 11ac alternator in concert with lucas 4tr voltage regulator, I think they all came that way, same set-up as XKE Jaguar." Worth a look to see. Note 1961 to 1964 E-type is a generator so look for a 1965 or later. The series 1.5 came out in 68, the series two in 69 and the series 3 in 72. The 11ac was used from 65 to 72.

HI Ed, here are a few pictures of the alternator from my GTC #8995. Build date, late 1966. Of course i have no way to be certain that it is original to the car. The pulley diameter = 151+mm. Tho' not for sale, i'm happy to help in any other way i can. steve

I feel stupid reiterating what you said, but i'd scour every purveyor of British parts I could find (and there are many!). I too, have had mixed results, tho' generally positive, with CAE/BNR in Van Nuys. I spoke with "Bob". 4/5, s

steve, the 151 measurement i believe is the FAN part - do you have the measurement (diameter) for the just the pulley?

The diameter of the pulley is 72.2mm, so the circumference is, let see now, what the hell was the formulae ?? s
