Pulling radiator
Pulling radiator
Looking for tips on pulling the radiator on a 330. There is very little clearance between the radiator and the cooling fans and I was wondering is necessary to remove the fans prior to pulling the radiator.

Re: Pulling radiator
The fans can stay in place to pull the radiator. It should come straight out the top once the hood is removed. It's best done with two people as I think it might hang up on some of the brackets on the front of the engine. Remove the alternator, and maybe the bracket.
I can't remember, is this an A/C car?

Re: Pulling radiator
No AC. I ended up pulling the fans to provide more room. I had to drop the radiator down through the bottom to disconnect the hosing and just pulled up and out after that. I’m having the radiator recored at Central Radiator in Tampa. They work on vintage radiators and the owner Dave was very knowledgeable and friendly. I’ll let dorm know how it turns out in case someone down here needs similar work done.

Re: Pulling radiator
Please make sure you get a horizontal finned core just like the original one. TomWrigs2019 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 25, 2020 2:37 pm No AC. I ended up pulling the fans to provide more room. Re: Pulling radiator
This is a picture of the WRONG core. Most radiator shops use this one because it's easier to get.

Re: Pulling radiator
I got the radiator back this week and it looks great. The top rank was full of acorns and bedding from an old mouse nest. The tubes on the old core were clogged with debris. New core looks great. I would recommend Dave at Central Radiator and Auto air Tampa Fl.

Re: Pulling radiator
From what I understand, the flat fin is original so that’s what is in my car. Its not as efficient but trying to keep the car as original as possible. I will say I am thinking about having Tom install a modern cooling fan to prevent overheating down here in Florida.

Re: Pulling radiator
I have not noticed any deficiency in cooling, and it's the same as the original core. If you're going to go through the trouble of recoring the radiator, might as well have it the same as original?
