GTE Engine Rebuild

Post by Tom Wilson »

In your photos I see the fan clutch assembly which is cracked as so many seem to be. Do you know anybody who is rebuilding these? I was lucky enough to find a usable original one (and then switch to an electric fan), but a lot of GTE owners need these and we are running out of used ones.

Can someone please tell me if this bolt has any special lettering on its head? You can see it better from the left side of your engine bay. Thanks.

Hi John,

no markings on bolt. Seems to be a special made one from the look of it. Hope it helps. If you need more let me know.

Hi John,

here are the details of the bolt - see pics.

Hope it helps. It looks like it was done in a lathe and the head not fully skimmed.

Thanks Chris; I appreciate this. Interesting, typically M5 bolts have a 8mm hex. As you can see, mine does not have that little leftover "nipple". Sadly, I lost this bolt, but with your measurements I'll try make one. Thanks again.
