Ferrari 250 Police Car - Italy

Post by enio45 »

As some of you know, im moving to Milan for 2 yrs for my work and I hope I can be of some help to the members of this great site to give back some of the great information i have learned over the past 2 yrs. When I was in the immigration office yesterday in Milan giving them my fingerprints for entry for a work visa (no i did not arrested already!) , i saw a poster in the back room of a ferrari police car with a web site reference on it.......I said - - WOW look at this!!

Below is the web site i found and I will try with my Italian friends here get some of these posters. The poster i saw was the rear view of the 250, while the one on this site is the front view........pretty amazing as a police car!!.

You can also blow up the picture for a larger view.

I hope you like it!!

I have several scale models of the 250 GTE police car....For some reason, I think it would be cool to own an old Italian police car. Perhaps a 2600 Sprint by Alfa Romeo would be doable...

thx

My car would be the very next road car built after the Police car, s/n 3999.
Mine at s/n 4001. and the next s/n 4003 being the GTO replica built by Favre which I recently saw on ebay.

Hi Ed,

Good luck in Italy! I'm envious just in the great food you'll eat!

I hope you get to find time to attend some of the car shows in Italy and report back to us on what they're like. Whenever I go to one in the U.S., I've always wondered if the ones in Italy are similar, only chock full of old Italian parts that we can use on our old Ferraris!

Thanks for the kind words to the site members....i'm sure ill be attending quite a few events and the usual parts shows they have during the yr.

I'm more than happy to help anyone who needs something from this side of the ocean that may be difficult to impossible to find in the good old USA. Just let me know........i assume my return in the next few yrs will be alot of car items in the container and little furniture ...and maybe another car!!

Police Car at Goodwood Revival.

Post by whturner »

HI Guys

There were1 (or 2?) police cars at Goodwood. I saw one in the Paddock area - took a couple of pictures, and later one in the parking lot. I have no Idea if they were the same car, just in two different locations.
Does anyone have a quick summary of the history?

Cheers

My understanding is that there were two Police cars with one crashed and the survivor being s/n 3999.

Ed,

Are you shipping your car over? It would be fun driving the 330 on the Autostrada as well as through the Tuscan hill country.

Good Luck,

Art, thanks for the note and sorry for the delay in getting back to you. We are in the process of getting moved into the house here in milan. Unfortunately i wil not be shipping the car over.....its still without the chrome and interior in place....so for now i had to box everything up and it waits for my return.,

I'm looking over here for another one so maybe ill have the pleasure of driving the autostrada with it. I would like to find a GTC if possible....we will see....for now, i make it around milan with my Fiat Punto!!

Call if you every get to italy

Ed managed to stop by the museum where this car is displayed and sent me a bunch of pictures he took.

Note, all of these can be clicked for a hi-res picture.

In another thread, there was a discussion of various mirrors installed on the mid-60s Ferraris. This picture shows the mirror to be identical to what I have on my 330 GT.

Ed also bought several of these posters. If anybody wants one, please email him. The price is 3 Euros plus the cost of a tube and mailing, probably less than $15. Or I can accumulate orders for US and Canada and have one shipment from Europe and I can send them on with less shipping cost.

Great photos of a historic GTE. My GTE is the very next road car to this one. Exact same color upholstery.
