Too good of shape and too expensive for Tom :)

Looks like it. You can see the same type of hose leading from the radiator (near the cap) going toward the rear of the car. Most certainly non-standard.
Since the owner used to vintage race this car, a recovery tank makes sense. Otherwise if the radiator was full, it would be down an inch or so after a race. A few times of that and you've had to add a gallon or so of antifreeze.
The late 330 GTs have an overflow tank that's mounted between the vent holes under the front bumper. The major difference is in the late 330s, the overflow tank is pressurized. The pressure cap is on the overflow tank and a sealing non-pressure cap is used on the radiator. It takes a more substantial hose between the two tanks.

I think this car has been offered on Ebay before.
My guess on reserve: $82.5K
I can't get emotional over cars like #4765--they are true basket cases and better off parted out or turned into a Ferrari hotrod by someone with more money than sense (That could be me; money, not imagination, is the lacking element)
However, if the ex-John Bond 330 America went to Shaughnessy or another boneyard for parting out, that would be a travesty; no -- I'll make that tragedy.
My guess is that it will go to an enthusiast. Even lacking the $$, I'm very sorely tempted to pull the trigger.

I'm surprised-- it was truly "priced to sell". Revised estimate: $77.5 K final sales price, since with the 5 speed it's not a matching-numbers car.David Hodge wrote:reserve met at $65K
With a replacement 5 speed trans, would Ferrari refuse to issue documentation? But, that may have been taken care of before the work was done.
The exhaust isn't right - two big pipes sticking out the back.

Last night , I asked my wife if I could buy it and she said "sure--go right ahead if you want". I think she had had a couple or more glasses of wine and was also feeling a little guilty about buying some $tuff on Ebay. A little later I said "I'm going to bid on that Ferrari now", and the scream from the next room was probably heard down the block. Just having fun--I wasn't serious (I hope).Rudy van Daalen Wetters wrote:My car came with the exact same overflow tank system. Works well for California climate so I decided to leave it as is for now. Am tempted to bid.....wife is asleep.

More realistic goals: getting Borranis and tach/speedo rebuilt during the hot, non-driveable Dallas summer weather.
Info: I called Seaport Mold and Casting on Thursday and they have the knockoff sockets in stock. I ordered one as well as a 3/4" drive torque wrench from Harbor Freight.
